Data Informed Solutions & Professional Learning: Ideas that Work

What We Do

Data Informed Solutions & Professional Learning (formerly Blueprints for Learning) provides professional learning, curriculum development, and assessment services to schools throughout the United States. We work with educators to customize an approach that better ensures student achievement by understanding the strengths and needs of the school. We are careful not to attend to symptoms, but rather to help staff identify challenges and strengths, as well as workable solutions.

Our work is highly specialized for each client and often begins with an on-site visit to ascertain programmatic and school- or district-specific goals and outcomes by talking with administrators and teachers, reviewing curriculum and student assessment data, observing learning, and when appropriate working one-to-one with students. Such immersion allows us to better craft a plan with educators that attends to the challenges and builds on strengths. As a result, our work directly helps to extend, deepen, and improve student learning.

Our commitment to clients is often long term and we support the projects we develop with clients through on-site work, curriculum development, and remote support as is appropriate. To begin the process, clients can request a free initial consultation by contacting us by phone or email.

Who We Are

Dr. Mary Ann Reilly, President of Data Informed Solutions

Dr. Mary Ann Reilly, an author of more than a dozen books and juried articles about reading and writing, has worked as the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning and previously the Director of Literacy for Newark Public Schools, NJ, and as an Assistant Superintendent for suburban and other urban school systems in addition to teaching across the PreK-12 span and as a college professor in New York.  She understands the challenges and strengths associated with urban education. In her work with school systems, state assessment growth has been significant.  For example, with one urban public school system in NJ,  achievement rose from 18% passing to 80% passing in ELA and 36% to 87% passing in mathematics during a 4-year period. Similarly, a public school system in New York achieved a 50% reduction in special education referrals and an increase to 75% of students scoring 3 or 4 on the NY State assessment for ELA during a 5-year period. Most recently in Newark NJ, high school ELA results increased from 19% passing to 66% passing on the NJGPA across 14 high schools.

Dr. Reilly holds multiple graduate degrees in Urban Education, English, and School Administration and has earned a doctorate from Columbia University in English Education, as well as advanced coursework in anthropology. She has worked in public education for 35 years, teaching and leading at the primary, intermediate, middle, and secondary levels.

Founder of Data Informed Solutions & Professional Learning, Inc., Dr. Reilly has assembled an expert group of educators, who specialize in teaching and learning, Pre-K through grade 12. She is joined by experts in leadership, English language art, multilingual learners, early literacy, mathematics, and special education.
